Happy to Answer Any Questions or Concerns

Renovating your house into your new dream home is a big commitment.  However, some questions are universal, regardless of project type, size, or scope.

We’ve collected the most common questions and answered them below, giving you the information you need to make informed decisions about your new custom cabinetry.

If you don’t find your answer below, contact us to schedule a free consultation.

Unfortunately, we respectfully decline modification projects (adding on to existing or altering a component) as modifying existing cabinetry can weaken the structural integrity or damage the aesthetics.

However, we can sometimes replace existing doors/drawers under the right circumstances.

Simply put, custom cabinetry is art.  Every project we install is handcrafted specifically for your home.  The dimensions, layout, style, colors, number of doors, drawers, etc., are built exactly as you want them.  Every piece is tailor-made in our workshop to perfectly fit your home.  Our woodsmiths carefully select each piece of hardwood based on quality and grain pattern to provide you with beautiful, one-of-a-kind cabinetry that adds elegance and convenience for years to come.

Our personal Cabinetry Design Service takes the dimensions of your room, understands your plan, and generates computerized images of these ideas.

For example, if you are thinking about building a home office workstation but are not sure if you want open shelves, wood doors, or glass-panel doors?  We can show you all of the images for you to make an informed decision.

In a kitchen, are you contemplating between ceiling height cabinets or lower cabinets?  Maybe undecided about the species or color of the kitchen island.  We can help you visualize all scenarios, saving you time and money.

Needing more besides just renderings?  Electricians, plumbers, and countertop fabricators use the elevations and layout overviews for preliminary work (knowing where lines and drains need to be placed, and overviews for estimating the amount of stone slabs needed for countertops).

Elevations and 3D images help craft a very precise estimate.

Every custom cabinetry project is unique, and pricing is determined by design, style, size, and finish.  The number of doors and drawers also influences pricing.  Every quote includes design elements, material selection, construction, painting/finishing (in our workshop), and installation.  We can work with any budget!  Ask us how.

We also meet with your electrician, plumber, and appliance installer when necessary to ensure everything is perfectly installed. For new home construction or complete room renovations, we work with interior designers and general contractors to meet all timelines and expectations.

Our pricing does not have hidden fees.  All estimates include materials, construction, paint finishing (completed in our workshop, not in your home) before delivery, delivery, and installation.

The only ‘extras’ are specialty items you may choose to upgrade (LED lighting, various pull-out drawers, glass panel doors, etc.). However, it is great to have this decided early on.

Your quoted price is based on several factors, including dimensions, scope, complexity, finish type, wood variety, and the number of doors and drawers.  Our pricing includes labor, delivery, installation, and spray finishing in our workshop – not in your home!

While some projects can be quoted through email or over the phone, other more complex projects may require a brief visit to your home to measure the areas and discuss the job more thoroughly.  If your home is not yet built, we may need to wait unless you have a good idea of the timeline and needs, such as the front elevation with the number of doors/drawers.

After you receive your project quote, your down payment holds your place in the schedule.  Additional payment dates are outlined in the contract, with everything closed upon completion.

Providing a quote based strictly on linear feet isn’t feasible.  The price for custom cabinetry differs with every project.  It’s determined by multiple factors, including design, style, dimensions, materials, finish, and number of doors/drawers.

However, every quote we provide includes design elements, material selection, construction, painting/finishing (at our workshop), and installation.  We also meet with your electrician, plumber, and appliance installer when necessary to ensure everything is perfectly installed.  For new homes or complete room renovations, we are happy to work with your interior designer or general contractor to meet all timelines and expectations.

We can also generate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for your review.

Over the decades, we have worked with many local small businesses and companies and will be happy to provide references for:

  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Appliance installers
  • Tile/Granite Installers
  • Flooring/Backsplash
  • Drywall Repair/Painters
  • Interior Designers & Decorators
  • Home Organizers
  • General Contractors

When working with a kitchen remodel, it is essential to communicate with all contractors and for them to communicate their needs.  Home offices, built-ins, and walk-in closets generally do not require as much unless the flooring or drywall is also being replaced.

Simple.  We believe cabinetry is art.  And your money is valuable to you.

Clients LOVE that the cabinets are delivered pre-finished.  No messy spray finishing in your home.

There are no extra hidden fees for finishing, delivery, or installation.  No extra fees for trips to your home to meet with designers or contractors.

Our thorough attention to detail and precision means we go above and beyond what other cabinet makers do, and the quality of our signature finish produces our final “wow” factor.

Your home is your sanctuary; you choose who enters and completes the work.  Our woodsmiths/craftsmen are entirely invested in every step of each project we take on.  From the first consultation to the final installation, we obsess over every detail to ensure your new cabinetry provides you with elegant style and convenient organization.

Words like service, quality, and passion have significant meanings to us.  Cabinetry has to fit perfectly, and often, plumbing or electrical outlets are overlooked.  That is why we collaborate with your other contractors to ensure every piece fits and performs flawlessly.

A full remodel process is comprised of the following steps:

  • Tear out: Remove and dispose of your old cabinets.
  • Appliances: Whether you’re keeping your existing appliances or upgrading with newer models, we review the specs and meet with your electrician/plumber to ensure everything aligns and your new cabinetry fits perfectly.
  • Measurements and Design: We measure your space and create a custom design for your project based on your specific needs and taste.  We’re also happy to work with your interior designer to make sure your visions are realized.  Want an idea of what your upgrade will look like?  We use CAD software to generate 2D and 3D renderings of your renovation project.
  • Technical evaluation: To guarantee every electrical outlet and plumbing hookup is accounted for, we collaborate with your electrician, plumber, or other contractors to ensure your cabinetry is perfectly designed.
  • Construction and Installation: We build all of your cabinetry in our workshop.  The luxurious commercial-grade paint finish is also completed in our workshop before delivery to your home.  Delivery and installation date and time are confirmed.  The dedicated craftsmen who built your cabinetry also are the ones who will install your cabinetry.

Yes, we do!  Contact us today to share your client’s needs, and we can make your project shine together.

It’s helpful to have the front elevations (including door and drawer numbers) as this affects pricing.  A hand sketch is totally acceptable.  Also, we don’t charge by linear foot as there is more to quality cabinetry, such as height and detail.

If you need a 2D or 3D CAD rendering of the vision and elevations, we’re happy to provide that.

The process is easy.  Simply call us or send us an email with your project idea.  Start with a brief description.  Inspiration photos are helpful, too.  If you have measured drawings of the project, send those as well.

If you’re unsure of what you want and could use some suggestions, no problem!  We can provide recommendations and share design ideas with you.

Yes, we can match any paint color.  However, time can alter the color from the original paint, so ask us to check into it.

We are generally booked 2-3 months out.  All projects are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please call or email for current lead times.  Clients are encouraged to plan well ahead of must-have completion dates, remodeling schedules, and seasonal events.

All cabinetry construction and finishing are completed in our shop, so our time in your home is minimal.  However, determining project timelines from start to finish depends on the scope of your project.  If you have other contractors and they get behind, this will cause us to wait since cabinetry is generally one of the final elements of a remodel.

As we respect and value your time and home, we’ll do whatever we can to ensure we meet all deadlines.

Yes.  For a fee, we are able to remove and haul away your old cabinets before installing your new cabinetry.

Since the inception of “JB Woodwork” in 1997, the business has evolved into more than simple ‘woodwork.’  We take great pride in our design process (layout, fit, and function) and quality of detail, so our new name was more fitting.
